On July 2, 2018, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, the 106th session of the Council of Arab Economic Unity started at the ministerial level.
The session’s agenda includes a number of topics and studies, including the annual economic performance report for the GCC countries for the year 2016 compared to 2015.
The session is scheduled to review many notes and reports, and to discuss the memoranda of the General Secretariat of the Council on many issues, including a study on desertification in the Arab countries and its implications, a study of inter-Arab trade and its growth opportunities in light of e-commerce, and a study of the prickly pear production project as one of the sources. Food and fodder in the deserts of the Arab world and the industries based on it.
It will also deal with a study on biodiversity and wildlife in the Arab world within the goals of development (sustainable 2030), in addition to the specific vision of the specialized Arab federations on sustainable development.
The session will also discuss the memorandum of the General Secretariat on the report and recommendations of the forty-eighth periodic meeting of the specialized Arab federations, a memorandum on the recommendations of the permanent delegates regarding the Arab Union for Arbitration and Settlement of Economy and Investment Disputes, the court emanating from the federation and a memorandum regarding unions that have not completed the requirements for joining the Council.
The report and recommendations of the meeting of the Investment and Trade Development Mechanism in the Arab Countries will also be reviewed
